X-Files, The star of the nineties

I remember being a kid, sitting with my brother, sister and mother watching X-files every night at 10 when Swedish TV aired it. Every night we were terrified and we Loved it. After that I have probably gone through every episode of season 1-6 about 15 times, and It still scares me and I still Love it. I have many favourite series in the sci-fi or horror genre and X-files will always be in the top, however it is special in the way of how many times I've seen it and when I started watching it, it really defined my childhood with all the cozy nights me and my family spent on the sofa with Mulder and Scully, terrifying flatworms, disgusting bugs, the lone rangers and of course.. aliens.
Since it is impossible to choose just a few episodes from the whole series I have to take it season by season, and despite the fact that Season one have 23 great episodes I have found 5 that sticks out for me.
Episode 2 - Squeeze
This is one of the episodes I remember most vividly from when I was a kid and that is mainly because of one thing, and I know all my friends have the same experience with this ep, Tooms. One of the scariest monsters in X-file history, the yellow eyes, the fact that he could bend and stretch himself in to pipes and teeny tiny spaces and that he ate five livers every 30 years to stay young… gah.
Episode 7 - Ice
This is a classic "who's infected and who's not" story, a terrible alien virus breaks out in the arctic and Mulder and Scully and 3 scientist are sent up to investigate. And when one of them gets bitten by an infected dog and blood splatters the paranoia sets in.. A great episode with the perfect amount of who's who.
Episode 10 - Eve
Eve is the name of genetically modified children who are born identical and with a murderous streak when their creator starts collecting them from their families. Well, scary, mischievous, evil kids are always a hot theme in horror and when there's twins.. a really scary episode with Harriet Sansom Harris playing the 'original' Eve, and for you who are familiar with her work knows how convincingly evil she can be.
Episode 11 - Fire
This episode has more of a thriller-feel over it about a man who can set anything on fire with his mind and uses this power to kill the husbands of the women he desires. The solely reason why I chose this episode in my top 5 is because of the man who plays the fire-man. Mark Sheppard.. oh. Well everyone who knows me know how much I adore this man. He has played awesome in every cool show ever existed, Firefly, BSG, Star Trek, Supernatural and so on.. he is just such a cool actor.
Episode 19 - Darkness Falls
This is one of those episodes most X-files fans remembers, and this is a favourite of my best friend. A chilling episode where Mulder and Scully goes to the pacific northwest to investigate the disappearance of 30 men and they discover bugs that only comes out in complete darkness haunting the forest responsible for the disappearances. SO scary, the kind where it crawls on your whole body, gah!
Season two, three and four of X-files is better than one I think so it will only get harder and harder to choose the best episodes from now. And for you people who haven't seen it since you were kids or something, re-watch it, its still THAT good. best way to start 2012.
